The Meeting Rescue Pack cover

It is not your English.

You read technical documents without effort. You write emails all day. Your job is not in question. And then the weekly call starts, three people talk at once, and you sit there with something worth saying and no gap to say it in.

Afterwards you replay it. The idea was good. A colleague said something close to it four minutes later and everyone agreed with them.

Meetings do not punish weak English. They punish slow English.

Emails can be edited. Presentations can be rehearsed. Meetings happen live, at speed, with no second draft, and that is the one place where translating in your head costs you visibly. The fix is not more grammar. The fix is having the language already built, so your attention is free for the content instead of the sentence.

That is all this pack is: the sentences, prepared in advance, so you only have to choose one.

Pick the moment you dread.

Here is what is inside, working. Choose a situation and see the phrase you would use.

    What you get

Twelve real situations, each split into phrases that are safe with anyone and phrases for when you have standing in the room.

    The emergency card page

    The emergency card

Twelve phrases that cover most meetings, on one page built to be screenshotted or copied onto a post-it beside your camera.

    The ten-minute prep sheet page

    The ten-minute prep sheet

Five questions to answer before any meeting that matters. It removes most of the fear before you join the call.

    The seven-day plan page

    A seven-day plan

Five minutes a day, out loud. At the end of it, four or five sentences arrive automatically under pressure.

    This is for you if

    • You work in English but it is not your first language.
    • You understand everything and still say very little.
    • You are the quiet one on calls and you know it is costing you.
    • You need something you can use in tomorrow’s meeting, not in six months.

This is not for you if

    • You are a beginner. This assumes you can already follow a work conversation.
    • You want grammar rules and exercises. This is language for speaking, not studying.
    • You want a course to work through. This is a reference you raid before meetings.

    Who wrote this

I am Melissa B. Duarte. I teach Business English to international professionals and I write the Global Business English Mastery Series, including The Ultimate A–Z of Business English: Idioms and Phrasal Verbs, which readers use in offices across Europe and beyond.

I have spent years listening to brilliant people sound smaller in English than they really are. It is almost never about vocabulary. It is about not having the sentence ready at the speed a meeting moves. Every phrase in this pack is one I have watched work.

    Questions

    What level do I need?

Roughly B1 and above. If you can follow a work meeting in English but struggle to take part in it at speed, this is aimed precisely at you. Advanced speakers use it too, because fluency and turn-taking are different skills.

Is it just a list of phrases?

No. The phrases sit inside a method: four moves that make up almost every contribution in a meeting, a rule for practising one phrase at a time, and three tools that turn reading into speaking. The list on its own would not change anything, and I say so on page two.

Do I have to memorise 120 phrases?

Please do not. You choose one phrase before a meeting, say it out loud five times, and use it once. A phrase you have said out loud is available to you under pressure. A phrase you have only read is not.

    What format is it?

A 22-page PDF you download immediately after buying. It reads well on a laptop, prints cleanly, and the emergency card is designed to sit on a second screen during calls.

    Is there audio?

Not in this edition. If pronunciation is your main worry, start with the free lessons on YouTube, where you can hear these phrases spoken.

Can I see what it is like before I buy?

Yes. The page previews above are real pages from the pack, and my YouTube channel is full of free lessons in the same style, so you can hear how I teach before you spend anything. If you have a question the page has not answered, email info@duartebusinessenglish.com and I will answer it myself.

Your next meeting is already in the calendar.

Ten minutes with this pack and you will walk into it with one sentence ready. That is usually all it takes to change how a room hears you.
